Project Components & Methodology

  • Resource Survey and Preparation of Management Plan
    • Survey and demarcation of the area
    • Preparation of monographs/pictorial diary and assessment of species stock
    • Preparation of micro plan and management plan
    • Bio-diversity assessment in selected forest areas by laying out the sample plots:
  • In-situ Conservation of Forest area
    • Entry point activity in villages
    • Cleaning, cut back and weed removal
    • Soil and Moisture Conservation in the selected site
    • Habitat improvement for wild life including development of water holes etc.
  • Ex-situ Propagation
    • Survey demarcation and lay out of the sites for ex-situ Cultivation
    • Procurement / Collection of good quality of planting material and Nursery activities of commercially important species
    • Actual Planting at the identified sites for ex-situ cultivation, Maintenance and upkeep
    • Propagation and extension of commercially important species in the wild / fields of farmers
  • Herbal Health Care
    • Ethnobotanical Survey and documentation of the Traditional Knowledge base in the project area with the assistance of local people and experts
    • Establishment / upgradation of Vanaushdhalay (herbal health centres ) and remuneration to traditional healer
  • Promotion of Non-Forest Bio-diversity
    • Identification of local agricultural / horticultural species, fish species and local breed of domestic animal
    • Propagation of agricultural / horticultural species, development of local breed of domestic animal / fisheries whichever is identified
  • Capacity Building
    • Nondestructive harvesting of N.T.F.P.
    • Strengthening of J.F.M. committees and Primary Forest Produce Cooperative Societies
    • Strengthening of women self help groups.
    • Skill development of primary forest produces cooperative societies for collection, value addition and processing of N.W.F.P.
  • NWFP Based Livelihood Activities
    • Non -destructive harvesting and collection of Non-wood forest Produce including primary processing of NWFP/Medicinal Plants/ Lac cultivation including purchase of equipments
    • Establishment of processing units of important NWFP including construction of building and procurement of machinery and equipments
    • Marketing support through NWFP Marts and Sanjeevanis
  • Organic Certification
    • Organic Certification of important forest and Non forest Produce
  • Research & Development
    • Development of low cost processing, value added product, storage technologies and standardization of packaging and special studies on biodiversity as per requirement
